Should I wear a veil on my wedding day?

To Veil or Not to Veil? As a Bridal Designer, I Say There's Something for Everyone.

Every bride I work with asks the same questions: What makes a wedding look complete? And should I wear a veil?

There's a famous quote from bridal guru Randy Fenoli that I love to share with my clients. He says,

"A bride without a veil is just a girl in a white dress."

While I believe every bride is beautiful no matter what, I understand what he means. A veil is more than just fabric; it's the magical finishing touch that transforms a gown into a bridal vision.

And believe me, there truly is a veil for everyone.

More Than Tradition: It's a Moment

When I'm creating a custom veil, I'm not just thinking about tradition. I'm thinking about the moment you walk down the aisle, the way the light catches the fabric, and the feeling you'll have. The veil has this incredible ability to create a sense of mystery and anticipation for your partner, your family, and your friends. It’s an incredibly emotional part of the day.

Practical Magic: A Veil for Every Part of Your Day

My brides often choose to wear their veil for the most iconic parts of the day, and for good reason!

  • For the Photos: Nothing creates more stunning, romantic photos than a veil with a little bit of movement. The way it flows in the wind or drapes dramatically behind you makes for absolutely breathtaking pictures. This is often the main reason my brides want a longer veil, as it offers endless opportunities for beautiful shots, whether it's the first look or your couple's portraits.

  • For the Ceremony & Reception: Many brides choose to wear their veil for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception. But there's another option I love to offer: bustling the veil! We can secure your veil so it stays neatly out of the way for your first dance and cake cutting. That way, if guests show up late to the ceremony, they still get to see you in your full bridal glory.

Finding Your Perfect Match

As a designer and couture seamstress, I look at every veil as an extension of the gown and the bride's personality.

  • The Romantic: A cathedral-length veil with delicate lace trim can create a fairytale moment.

  • The Modern: A simple, single-tier veil with a clean cut can add a touch of drama without overwhelming a minimalist gown.

  • For a Vintage-Inspired Look: A birdcage veil or a Juliet cap can be the perfect touch to complete your retro-inspired style.

My job is to help you find the style that feels authentically you. Whether it's a fingertip veil with subtle beading or a voluminous tulle creation, the right veil is waiting for you.
